SUBJECT: Recognition of Eloise Dilling of the Adelle Davis Foundation for her annual support of the Healthy Options for Youth Teen Culinary Arts Program
RECOMMENDATION: That the Commission recognizes Eloise Dilling of the Adelle Davis Foundation for her annual support for the Healthy Options for Youth Teen Culinary Arts Program.
DISCUSSION:
The Neighborhood and Outreach Service Division offers a Culinary Arts Program specially designed for Junior and Senior High School students of the community. The program is 100% grant and donation funded based. The program is designed to offer a healthy option for youth. Since the Adelle Davis Foundation is interested in educating the community on healthy eating, we approached Eloise Dilling, the President of the Foundation for support. She immediately came on board and has been with us all three years of the program’s existence.
Students from both the Westside Community Center and Franklin Community Center, provide a VIP luncheon to show off what they have learned. Ms. Dilling has attended every single one of those luncheons. You could always spot her; she was the one sitting and talking with the family of the students and wearing a big proud smile. She is so proud of the students and the work they have accomplished. Now in our third year, she continues to fund and watch the growth and accomplishment of the students.
The Parks and Recreation Department would like to recognize the generosity that Eloise Dilling has provided to the students. Her contribution and generosity to the youth are greatly appreciated. The teens will always remember her big smile and look of approval every time she sees them.
